✦ LOST IN LIMBO DEVLOG #21 | 08.05.2025

So sorry for the slight delay in this one! If June was a chill month, July has been the complete opposite. We've made a lot of progress (which we are super happy about) and there's so much to talk about! Our Kickstarter backers can find their special merch section in our latest update! So let's jump into July's progress!

First of all: All new characters for the Prologue of Lost in Limbo's Extended Demo are DONE!! ✨

This month, Airyn and Raquel have been working hard, and this is the result! Evie was edited by Raquel so her render matched the rest of the cast better, mom has been finished, and Grandma is almost there! In addition, Raquel worked on Evie and Mom's expressions, and they've already been coded by yours truly! ✨

Only Grandma's expressions are left, and then every new character will be completed and ready to make an appearance! We are blissfuly on schedule, but we'll keep stepping on the gas to be able to showcase our new demo in Steam's October Next Fest!

And of course, July 1st was Gael's birthday! Poor Raquel has been working her ass off, so we're incredibly thankful to her.

Allie and I have been correcting the script and right now I think it stands at 80% edited, so we're good. Now, we've decided to give Pride a scene he wasn't going to have originally (but that the rest of the cast has) to give him more screen time, which he deserves. Also, it wasn't fair for Pride stans to have to choose another LI to have that scene with. So that means a bit more of writing for me!

My programming adventure of the month has consisted of editing and coding more voiced names, as well as asking Feniks for help with the voiced name code! The voiced names aren't mandatory for the first update of the new demo, but if I can pull it off, why not? :^)

Also, of course, programming Evie and Mom's sprites and their expressions, as well as starting to code the beginning of the new demo, which is already corrected besides some revisiting we have to do. I've also worked on a workshop I can access to test the personality system and the voiced names, basically to check whether they work correctly or not! You won't be seeing that in the game, of course, but I worked hard on it!

That means the personality system is functional. Some of the old choices in the, well, old demo, will need to use the system now, so that's also stuff I'll have to be careful about.

The extras this month are packed! We had to fight UPS, edit the prints, poor Astro is working restlessly on adding the new content to the Artbook while also working on ✨extra stuff✨ for the new demo, and recently I've been fighting the government because we want to apply for a subsidy offered by the state. AND BOY, DO I HATE BUREAUCRACY. I won't get into details because I know y'all care about other stuff better, but my god. MY GOD.

Also, I'm preparing our new Casting Call document for Evie, Mom, and Grandma!

In addition, we've contacted an artist, friend of Airyn and Dess (our merch artist) to commission him for a special piece to commemorate the new demo. Right now we're only talking, but we've to come up with some ideas to send over so he has an idea of what we want!

What else? Personal stuff, I've dealing with my first OCD lapse (or at least, I think it has been my first) since I started therapy and finished with medication. It hasn't been pretty, but today I'm doing a bit better, and I see one of my therapists in two days before she goes on vacation. If needed, I will medicate again, whatever's best for my health!

Raquel is working hard as usual, enjoying time with her family; Astro is preparing for what September has in store for him, as he'll be studying once more, and Kayden is alive!

We've done well this past July! Only Grandma's expressions are left, and then Raquel can focus on editing the CGs to match the new sprites. I'll have to work my ass off both in the writing and programming department, because I'd like for betatesters to try out the build in September. I think we'll also need more betatesters that can and want to play to break the game, so I'll see how can we manage that so those who paid for betatesting don't feel like others are enjoying the content before the rest without having supported the game.

I think so far, that's all for the month! It's back to work for me, so wish me luck! That Pride scene isn't going to get written by itself!

As always, thank you so much for your patience, your support, your kindness, and beyond. Let's see each other soon!
